From Setback
to Springboard
D
From time to time, we all experience setbacks…
But what if I told you that something can only be a setback if we call it a setback?
In fact, most setbacks are events set in motion by the Universe to show us our path.
What if I told you-you could use events you call setbacks to launch yourself toward your goals?
Would you like to learn how to turn setbacks into springboards? I’ve learned how to do it by, of course, going through it myself…
Almost two years ago now, I was working hard to get my business up and going. And I was struggling. So I started to look for other ways to bring in some income and signed up for Postmates, a delivery service here in San Francisco.
At the time, it seemed like a good idea, a way to help support me and my husband as I built my business. If I was being honest with myself though, this was a way of avoiding the things I knew I needed to do to grow my business.
Building a business can be scary, and I was afraid to have sales conversations for fear of rejection. So delivering packages seemed like an easy way to make some money on the side.
Well, I convinced my husband to come along on my first job and, after delivering our last package, we were driving through an intersection when our car was t-boned by an out-of-town driver. Our car was totaled (all the airbags went off), but thankfully we both walked away okay, as did the other driver. As we walked home from the site of the accident, all I could feel was gratitude. I was so grateful to be alive.
Looking back on it, I think of one of my favorite TV segments growing up in Toronto. Our sports channel, TSN, will often show a very meaningful moment in a game and call it the “TSN Turning Point”. For me, this accident was absolutely a TSN Turning Point! Instead of looking at it like a setback, I choose to turn it into a springboard, to listen to the Universe telling me to go for it with my business and to no longer be sidetracked by my fears.
Stepping back a bit, this was yet another example of something I believe in very strongly: Divine Timing, that life happens FOR us, NOT TO us.
I believe that one of the ways that confident people develop themselves as powerful manifesters is that that they don’t dwell on events others see as setbacks. They accept what happened, they initially feel that it could be a setback, but then they find the perspective necessary to turn the event into a springboard.
After all, we get to decide what something means, life has no inherent meaning. You assign the meaning to every single thing that happens in your life.
So when life deals you a potential setback, you are fully capable of finding the lesson the universe is offering and fully capable of turning it into a springboard to your bigger, brighter future!
To help you turn setbacks into springboards, I’ve put together THIS WORKSHEET to guide you through this process.
